UNCITRAL Expedited Arbitration Rules (2021)

  1. Article 14 emphasises the discretionary power of the arbitral tribunal under article 24 of the UARs to limit further written statements. It clarifies that the arbitral tribunal may decide that the statement of claim and the statement of defence are sufficient and that no further written statements are required from the parties. It should, however, not be interpreted that arbitral tribunals do not have such discretion under article 24 of the UARs.
